Isn't It About Time To Stop The Struggle ... And Start Really Booking Work?

If You're Totally Committed To Doing All It Really Takes To Become A Professional Actor, I Hope You'll Take 7 Minutes To Read This Entire Page ...

... It Might Just Turn Out To Be The Most Important Letter You've Ever Read.

From: Bob Fraser
To: Professional Actors
Monday 08:39 AM

Dear Fellow Actor,

Do you ever get the feeling of being overwhelmed, confused, frustrated ... almost like you're stuck in a never-ending rut?

That when it comes to your acting career, it's almost as if you're always "on the outside looking in?"

Not sure exactly what steps you should be taking in order to get things on track?

Or have you moved to LA, NYC, or other big city, and now it seems impossible to get your acting career beyond square one?

Well, you're not alone. This is a common scenario.

In fact, every star and so called 'working actor' you've probably envied – has been exactly where you are right now.

How do I know? Because I've been there and I've had those exact same feelings too.

The truth is that too many talented, trained, passionate performers begin their professional careers with high hopes, only to end up
'working' for 'credit copy and meals' – holding down a 9 to 5 job they hate – and living through years of painful struggle and rejection.

The sad part? Eventually, a lot of actors who could have been successful – if they'd known what to do – just give up.

On the other hand
, I'm sure you've seen quite a few people on the red carpet who don't seem to have any of the talent, passion, or training that you've always believed were an absolute necessity to achieve a successful acting career.

You've probably said as much – to yourself and to your friends.

Red Carpet Ceremony

What's Their Secret?

The big question is; what's the reason behind these two vastly different outcomes? Why do some actors struggle year after year – while other actors seem to be on the 'fast track' to the top?

Maybe you've come to think that it's all about luck? Or looks? Youth? Education? Where you live?

Take it from someone who's been on the 'inside' for more than forty years ... it's not ANY of those things.

In fact, those are just a few of the mistaken ideas behind the many myths that surround show business. Unfortunately theses are the very myths that always slow actors down in their pursuit of a professional acting career.

Let's clear up the biggest myth right away ...

The path to success in our business is not a
"secret."
There are real solutions to acting career problems. And, no, it's not about having the right agent, the right manager, the right acting teacher, or networking like an insurance salesman.

What I discovered early in my own career is that the real key to eliminating your 'struggling actor' syndrome – and starting up the ladder of success – is simply this: Persistently taking effective action on good information.

Of course, if you don't start with reliable information, it's close to impossible to take the right steps.

And, bluntly, if you're not taking the right steps, at the right time, and in the right order – your forward progress in the our business is bound to be tough going.

So ... why DO some actors suffer through years of struggle - while other actors seem to have the 'golden touch?'

Here's why ...

Because Talent Alone Won't Get You There.

I promise that you'll discover (either now – or years from now) that love of craft, acting training, and a knack for performing – the combination of skills that many call 'talent' – are not the the main components that truly get actors working.

While talent is a component – and I will assume you have talent – the truth is that only those actors who have taken the time to study the business of building an acting career, have any shot at success.

Here's where the problem begins: These
vital show business skills are rarely taught by traditional acting schools, acting classes and workshops, or university acting programs – and most actors are left to learn these skills in the 'school of hard knocks.'

I can tell you from personal experience, the 'school of hard knocks' method is guaranteed to take years.

The problem is this ...

These are skills you absolutely must have ... BEFORE you can have an acting career that pays the bills.

Here's what Harrison Ford had to say on the subject:"Talent isn’t enough. It’s your professional mindset that gets most of the acting work for you."

Now You Can Master These Crucial Career Skills
At Home, At Your Own Pace, On Your Computer.

THE SOLUTION ...

You Must Act PackageYou Must Act!
is the #1 Virtual Acting Career Course on the planet. Because this encyclopedic, study-at-home, education for actors is totally focused on helping serious people build their own successful professional acting careers – from the ground up.

But ... Why Should You Listen To Me?

I'm guessing that right about now you're starting to get a little bit skeptical ... and, frankly, that's a good thing.

I know that many actors have heard the promises of fame and fortune and experienced the disappointment that usually follows that sort of claim.

In fact, I believe a healthy dose of skepticism is a very smart choice on your part – when it comes to investing money in your acting career.

So, before I share anything more about the course itself, I want to make a a couple of points as clear as I can ...

First, you won't find any promises of fame and fortune here.

Becoming a professional actor is hard work - and requires amazing amounts of patience, tenacity, and concentrated effort. Only a small percentage of people have those qualities.

You Must Act! is simply a comprehensive education about HOW to pursue a professional acting career.

What you do with that education is entirely up to you.

Secondly, I know that in the past few years a lot of people have popped up with books, classes and workshops about 'the business of acting' ... and while I think the recent attention to this vital area of training is great – let me be a little tactless ...

... shouldn't you really be checking credentials?

I mean, how much trust can you put into advice about dating that is given to you by someone who's never gotten a date? Or how about investment advice from someone who's broke?

So, in order to reassure you that I'm someone who can actually help you, I'm going to slow down for a moment, and rattle off a few highlights of my own story ...

In The 'Big Leagues' For Over 4 Decades

Bob Fraser PicturePlease understand, I'm not totally comfortable blabbing about myself or the things I've done – but I do believe a brief glimpse of my own career may help give you a sense of what I am able to pass along to you in the way of advice.

Where to start ...

Okay, let's begin with this; I spent more than 40 years earning my living
exclusively in show business.

(I hope you noticed that word,
'exclusively.')

Now, to be honest, my career can best be described as 'eclectic' – I've worked as an actor, writer, director, producer, series creator and network show-runner – and I've even had a few off-beat gigs like magician, disk jockey, talk show host, commercial spokesman for a chain of department stores, and a singing dog in the off-Broadway hit, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown.

But my 'all over the map' history turns out to be a good thing for you - and I'll explain why in a minute ...

For now, here's a few high points of my 'under the radar' career:

ymabulletI had my own sitcom on NBC – which I created, wrote, produced, and co-starred in with Michael Richards (Marblehead Manor, if you're interested in looking it up).

ymabulletProduced, wrote, and (once in awhile) acted in three of the most popular television series in the history of the medium (The Love Boat, Benson, and Full House).

ymabulletAs an actor I played roles in more than 120 plays, tv shows, and films – and I was an early member of the world famous L.A. improv company, The Groundlings.

ymabulletWritten more than two dozen plays, a bit over 1000 hours of television episodics, a few screeplays, a half dozen books, and scores of commercials.

ymabulletWas responsible for hiring thousands of actors – including Oscar, Emmy & Tony Winners – while producing and directing in theatre, television, and film.

ymabulletHave been under contract to Paramount, Disney, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC, Lorimar, Sony Pictures ... well, practically everybody.

Bob's Scrapbook Picture

In Other Words ... I Know The Territory.

From the beginning of my career (in the early '60's) until I retired a few years ago, I regularly earned what some might consider the "big bucks" – year in and year out. (My average income was a tad over half a million a year.
I know, that's not Tom Cruise territory ... but it's still pretty comfortable.)

Naturally, I had some lean years – no one bats a thousand in the big leagues – but I usually learned as much from the 'bombs' as I did from the hits.

Bottom line? I've been there, done that, and gotten the show jackets.

Now – here's why my 'diverse' career is a good thing for you ...

The 'Real Deal' From Four Points Of View

Having had some success as a performer, writer, director and producer –
I have seen how professional show business actually operates ... from four distinct 'insider' vantage points.

So the tactics, strategies, and pro-active steps I'll be sharing with you, are
proven principles – not 'slanted' or biased opinions.

I believe my objective 'approach' to the business will guide you to creating your own path to success and recognition.

B
efore we push on, I want you to know a few other things about me:

Number one: My talents are best described as 'average' and I'm certainly no babe magnet (that's not clear hair in my pictures).

Two: As far as 'connections' were concerned, I started my career in a small town in Wyoming – a place where cows outnumber people and about as far from Broadway and Hollywood as you can get.

And, three, even though I've made a nice living – and worked with 100's of famous people – my work has never brought me fame.

Oh, I've made it to the red carpet many times – but never as the center of attention –
I was usually there because a show I wrote or produced was nominated. I'm one of those people you never recognize, standing in the background in a rented tuxedo ... behind the stars.

Believe me, no one has ever shoved a microphone in my face and asked, "Who are you wearing?"

I've Always Been In It For The Money.

The main reason I never became famous is simple: I was never particularly interested in the fame part.

Instead, I was intently focused on making a good living doing what I love – and providing for my family.
That was always my driving force as I pursued my career ... financial success.

The money part.

That total concentration on the income side of things gave me the dogged tenacity to learn every show business 'trade secret' I could – from my own experiences and from the people I worked with.

Those so-called 'trade secrets' are what kept me working in show business for more than four decades. And, more importantly, they are the skill-sets that will help you get to where you want to go.

Making Your Living As An Actor

I hope you're starting to get a crystal clear picture of what my acting career course is all about ...

... making your living as an actor.

Because You Must Act! is not likely to help you if you are not intensely interested in, driven by and focused on the idea of acting for a living.

This is not a course about how to be a better actor.

It's a CAREER course, designed exclusively to mentor and coach committed actors and help them achieve their goal of financial success ... doing what they love.

In short, it's a training method built on the principle of helping serious actors become in-demand, well-paid,
professional
actors.

But, Please ... Don't Just Take My Word For It.

You're probably thinking that you should check me out – and find out for yourself whether I'm a credible advisor.

And guess what? I WANT you to.

Look me up on IMDb.com, TVTome.com, BBC.com, Wikipedia – Google me, Yahoo me, ask around ... you know the drill.

Also go to your favorite search engine and do a search for 'acting career course' ... and check the results.

PLEASE – before you click the order button – do a complete 'background check' on Bob Fraser ... and my acting career courses.

Reactions From Stars, Reviewers, and Fellow Actors

Now, before I get to a complete overview of You Must Act!,
I'd like to share a little of what some working actors (and reviewers) think of it.

Here's what my pal Rene Auberjonois (
Tony Winner, Boston Public, M*A*S*H, Star Trek DS9, Benson, The Patriot, etc.) had to say:

Rene Auberjonois Headshot"You may not believe this (I'm amazed at myself), I've just spent hours at my computer reading You Must Act!

"I confess I'm a bit bleary-eyed, but I just couldn't put it down ... er ... I mean I couldn't stop clicking and scrolling.

"What an achievement. What a gold mine of essential information and simple wisdom. Bravo! ... your clear headed and positive take on how to go about DOING IT is just invaluable ... the kind of stuff I wish had been available in one package when I was stumbling around trying to get started. Again ... bravo!"

Rene Auberjonois

And my good friend, Robert Guillaume (Emmy Winner, Soap, Benson, Sports Night, Phantom Of The Opera, and more) had this to say:

Robert Guillaume Headshot"As show-runner, head writer and director (not to mention playing the slimy Senator Tyler) for 6 seasons, Bob made a significant contribution to the success of Benson. He also took a lot of time to mentor and champion young talent. I know he was instrumental in the beginning of more than a few careers; including Jerry Seinfeld, Ted Danson, Damon and Keenen Ivory Wayans, Steve Guttenberg, Teri Hatcher, Lori Loughlin, Julie Carmen, Lynn Moody ... and many others.

"Bob has done it all. And he's put it all into You Must Act! His 'insider' perspective on doing it delivers a mind-blowing blast of inspiration, information and resources that propels actors to amazing and exciting results."

Robert Guillaume

Of course, these are friends of mine (and former co-workers), so naturally you'd expect them to say nice things – but the reviews have been pretty good too...

Here's an excerpt of the review from Now Casting's website:

Now Casting Logo"... I highly recommend it. The thing is, if you read it, you have to believe it and do what it says. I'm not sure I would've done it all when I was young, because I would've thought, 'this is for other people, it'll be different for me.' I thought talent was all I needed. Now I know that's because I didn't want to do the work. But Fraser has outlined exactly what you need to do to be a working actor/star. I wish I'd known all the things he says when I was starting. People tried to tell me, but I didn't take it in. I had stars in my eyes. But this is a business. You have to look past the stars to see the hard work."

Here's what the reviewer said on the Casting Networks website:

Casting Network Logo"Let me cut to the chase: I'm recommending that you buy Bob Fraser's acting (career) course, You Must Act! ... and use it. (He has) cultivated a keen eye for synthesizing excellent business sense and optimal Hollywood strategy. What he is teaching is powerful enough to transcend even the unique specifics of the entertainment industry ... they are enduring principles with repeatable, consistent results. (Fraser) does a great job of coaching the reader on virtually all facets of an actor's career. His own innate intelligence and practical experience offer up valuable strategies."

(NOTE: You can read all the reviews, in their entirety, by clicking the REVIEWS link at the bottom of this page.)

But ... Can You Must Act! Actually Help YOU?

I know, I know ... you've seen all the star endorsements and good reviews before – but the real question is: Will this program work for an unknown actor who's just getting started ... or someone who's been at it awhile and hasn't seen much in the way of success?

In other words ... WILL IT WORK FOR YOU?

Maybe these letters from a handful of the 1000's of users – will give you a sense of what You Must Act! can help you accomplish:

Mike Ingersoll Headshot"A little more than a year ago I was non-equity when we decided to move to Chicago. My wife read aloud every word of You Must Act! – like an audio book – while I drove. We couldn't put it down. The sheer logic of it all, the anecdotes about other actors who found success through determination and unpredictable catalysts, the constant encouragement that real success in this business is achievable – all of these things gave us such hope and energy.

"After arriving in Chicago, we both started implementing your advice. Within 6 months I landed the role of Nick Massi, one of the Four Seasons in Jersey Boys (National Tour). This was, and is, a huge break for me. I'm working with Tony winners and an incredibly talented cast.

"Mr. Fraser, thank you, thank you, thank you for creating You Must Act! and Headshot Secrets Revealed. These two courses were the catalyst for my current success, without a doubt. They helped me to focus my energies, take stock in my abilities, and think of myself as an actor capable of achieving the level of success I desired. I've already started making new goals, that for the first time in my life, I believe I can realize. My wife is also enjoying a string of successes. She's recorded AFTRA voiceovers for some new video games, she's now a member of Equity and a recent Joseph Jefferson Award Nominee. Also, she'll be playing a leading role at a major regional theatre this summer. Thanks again." Michael and Angela Ingersoll – Chicago

Nicola Bertram Headshot“As a professional, fully trained actress, who has worked in the business for over ten years, I was beginning to feel that I was losing my way. I was becoming unfocused and didn't really know which way to turn. You Must Act! changed all that!

"It's encouraged me and helped me to focus on the things that I can control. The amazing thing is, that since I started the course, my whole attitude has improved ten-fold. I felt you fully understood the business and all its complexities. … working through the course has made me realize that my dreams of success, both artistically and financially, are possible.

“I keep going back to it ... re-reading those little gems of wisdom; they have become my guiding light, my little angels. Since moving to Los Angeles, about a year ago, I’ve booked fourteen very lucrative jobs – and my audition to booking rate has skyrocketed. Many thanks, Bob.” Nicola Bertram – London / Los Angeles

Dean Battaglia Headshot"My success story goes like this – I was brand new to acting a couple of years ago. I heard about You Must Act! at nowcasting.com.

"Since I didn't know squat about acting – or anything related – I bought it ... and today I'm a thriving actor! How? By learning the ropes from You Must Act!

"After reading it a couple of times – and using it as my map – I went from background work – to taking acting classes – to getting the right head-shot – to successful auditions – to landing speaking roles in film and TV – to finding an agent ...  I can go on and on ... Bob, you are doing a great service.” Dean Battaglia ~ Los Angeles

Caitlin Headshot"I'm writing this in behalf of Caitlin, my grandaughter, who began her journey several years ago when she took her 'big voice' to drama camp at our church. Since then, she's been involved with musical theatre, drama of all types, solo voice, dance, and film.

"We contacted you at the beginning of 2007, because I had made the decision to expand Caitlin's outreach and had heard of your program, You Must Act! from a friend. We received our copy and immediately put it to use. Your suggestions for how to get a good headshot, led to the discovery of a wonderful photographer and a marvelous audition invitation percentage. ... signing with a reputable agent, auditioning for SAG films (in Texas, no less!), getting callbacks and small jobs ... and having a blast all the while! It was a dream come true.

"We are very grateful for all the help your program has provided and plan to continue using your wonderful advice and encouragement, as Caitlin proceeds on her acting journey." Candace Christiansen (for Caitlin) – Texas

William Erickson Headshot“As a parent trying to manage my children’s acting careers – You Must Act! is a wonderful source of knowledge. Bob takes the guesswork out of how to succeed in the entertainment industry. The chapter on rejection was a positive inspiration for me – as a parent – learning to deal with it, concerning my kids.

"You Must Act! continues to provide insight and constant encouragement. It has given me the power to take things into my own hands and just keep working at it. After several months of having it to continually guide us and refer to, we are so much farther than we were before. The boys are now represented by an agent in New York – as well as Boston.

"Using the techniques and Bob’s teaching about perserverence – William recently booked a national network children's show. I not only want to commend Bob on the course, but he has also been quite a motivational coach by continuing to give inspiration through his monthly newsletters. I just cannot thank him enough." Marianne Bornkessel ~ New England

Marty Warner Headshot"Bob, thanks so very much for all the time and effort you put into You Must Act! It's been an extremely important tool for me.

"I was amazed that even though I've been at it for a lot of years – there were so many new things I learned. I was about to take new headshots and your tips in that area were very helpful. Thanks to my new pictures, my volume of auditions have increased.

"I just got a very big commercial – for BMW. Thanks again for everything ... and keep up the good work." Martin Warner – Los Angeles

Sydney Chase Headshot"You Must Act! ... gives you solid guidelines on what you must do to be an actor who is working and making money at it.

"I was apprehensive about getting this course at first – parting with my hard earned money. But if you go to ShowBizHowTo.com and look at all of the information Bob gives out for free – well, I figured there had to be something to this ... and there is. If you are serious about your acting career then get this course.

"After my first reading of You Must Act! ... I got called for an audition.  Long story short, this 43 year old mom landed her first speaking role in a feature film, called The Black Pearl. Really cool part in a really cool movie. Bob, I can't thank you enough for writing You Must Act! – and the monthly newsletters as well." Sydney Chase ~ New York City

Hayes Mercure Headshot“Bob Fraser’s You Must Act! is an absolute must for anyone who is truly serious about making a lifelong career out of acting.  Bob lays out his information in a straight-forward, no-nonsense approach, that draws you in as soon as you start reading.

"In a business full of harmful information and skepticism, it’s extremely refreshing to see that there is someone out there who cares enough to, first, recognize and correct the bad information – and then to give you vital information on how to succeed in this business. This course is packed full of short-term – intermediate – and long-term goals ... all of which are achievable, if you are willing to put in the necessary work.

"Since having read You Must Act! I have been cast in six independent films, four of which were principal roles. And my proudest accomplishment is that I have been cast in the longest running play in Atlanta history – it’s nice receiving a generous paycheck from the theatre every week! Bob’s wisdom is the steady light in a very dark and confusing world which we call show biz.” Hayes Mercure – Atlanta

Sharon McNerney Headshot"Two years ago I was living in a small town in Texas ... with absolutely no idea of how to get my foot in the door. I got to the point where I wondered, 'Is success in show business even possible for me?' Thankfully, a friend in my acting class told me about You Must Act! ... I was blown away! It literally gave me all I needed to succeed in this business! What it contains is worth millions.

"After I moved to Los Angeles, I was only here a few months when I was cast in a pilot for the Oxygen Network ... which I got on my own! Now I am booking principal roles in TV shows, pilots, independent films, and commercials and I’ve joined the Screen Actor's Guild. I have re-read it twice since I have moved here – and every time I gain priceless knowledge about the next effective steps in my career. I am more inspired than ever. You Must Act! is perfect for any actor who is truly determined to succeed in the entertainment industry. It actually reveals the secrets of show business success.” Sharon McNerney – Texas / Los Angeles

A Unique Approach To Your Acting Career

During my active career as a theatre and TV producer/director, I had the opportunity to mentor quite a few actors (many of whom have gone on to become successful and famous - a few have even become super-stars) and they were constantly urging me to "teach a class" or "write it all down."

I just laughed at that idea.

I mean, I was usually pretty busy putting together a weekly TV series, running one of my theatres, writing a screenplay, or acting in something – and I didn't really have the free time to teach – or write about how best to pursue an acting career.

But, after I retired from my active career (one of the nice things about some financial success is the ability to do exactly what you want), I found that I had plenty of time to write whatever I felt like writing – so I figured, 'why not?'

It took me almost two years to "write it all down."

You Must Act! is the result.

So, if you are interested in making money doing what you love (which, by the way, always comes before the fame) – then my acting career course was specifically written, designed, and built just for you.
